i8 $100,000 over MSRP!?

I stopped in at Concord BMW earlier today to find out when the new M3/4 was coming in and I also asked a salesman about the i8. He said that they are practically unavailable, and that dealers have been taking orders for $100,000 over MSRP! I was incredulous - he may have been blowing smoke but he said it was true. The car is new and interesting but good God! I told him for that kind of money I would rather get a Turbo S which would stomp the i8 and have some money left over and he said "me too!" - a practical BMW salesman.

wow, we have a couple sold already on a list at MSRP. Their going to be very limited on the allocations with those.

I don't believe that even in the slightest. Sounds like the salesman was just blowing smoke.

Depending on the market, there are always posers who want to have the first one and are willing to pay anything to have that "pleasure".
