Lightbulb BMW M5 / M6 Competition Package Videos and Photos w/ 1st Look at Pure Metal Silver M5

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
While we were in Portugal for the 4 Series Coupe launch, we also had a first look and drive of the M5 and M6 with Competition Package [full details]. We'll be sharing some first drive thoughts soon, but for now, have a look and listen at the cars in action. None of the cars in the photos are equipped with the 20" Competition Package wheels, but you can see them in action in the videos below.

These are also the first extensive photos of the new BMW Individual color for the M5 - Pure Metal Silver.

For those not familiar with the M5/M6 Competition Package, it features the following:
  • Power increase by 11kW (15HP) to 423kW (575 HP)
  • Stiffer stabilizer (anti-roll) bars
  • Stiffer and lower suspension (shocks and springs) (10mm lower than standard M5).
  • Stiffer front axle bushings
  • Active M Differential with a unique tune for the competition package for improved traction
  • New hydraulic rack-and-pinion steering with the M-specific Servotronic function with A MORE DIRECT PROGRAMMING to improve agility during cornering
  • M Dynamic mode (MDM) of DSC tuned with higher thresholds of intervention
  • New 20" M light alloy wheels
  • Sport exhaust with black chrome tips
  • Note: BMW M ceramic brakes still remain a separate option, unrelated to this package.
  • 2014 US pricing: $7300 (see price guide)

For even more details on these items, see our recent FAQ on the Competition Package.

How did the "Sport exhaust" sound in comparison to the non comp package exhaust?

That's not much of a review - and they are flat out wrong that CP includes the CC brakes. I'd like to see more detail with regards to steering/handling changes from someone who was critical of the current gen's.

Many times the UK packages are different to the rest of the world. This might be the case too. The cost of the CP in UK is 6,700.00 GBP = cca 10,300,00 USD; 3.000,00$ more than US'. Otherwise agree with you.

Unfortunately it's not.
Comp. pack (code 7MA) does not include the M carbon ceramic brakes (code 2NK).
In Germany both 7MA and 2NK cost 8.800 (each)

So it's clear that we'll see a Competition Package for M3/M4 too
Curious if these lower priced M models will be more capable than their big brothers!

I think that the competition package should include black kidneys, a cooler spoiler, and a cooler diffuser.
